Korčula…a little island in Croatia

Hello friends,

We drove three hours today to the little village of Ston to catch a ferry to the small island of Korčula. It is the supposed birthplace of Marco Polo, the famous explorer and writer. My friend Andy’s grandmother and great-grandfather were both born and lived here which makes this place even more special.

Dubrovnik – City of Oaks

It wasn’t that long ago, 1991, that Yugoslavia broke up and this beautiful city was besieged by the Yugoslav army, suffering seven months of shelling and destruction of almost 60% of its buildings and damage to its walls. After restoration through the ‘90s and early 2000s, Dubrovnik has risen to become one of the top places to visit in the Mediterranean area. It’s name means city of Oaks, for the oak trees that use to cover the grounds.

Croatia-Slovenia-Italy – the Dalmatian Coast

Hello my friends.

We are off on another adventure with friends on a Gate 1 travels tour of Croatia, Slovenia, and Italy. Jetsetter Magazine recently listed many of these places on a list of the most beautiful places to visit in Europe. I guess we are about to find out. We will be traveling along the coastline off the Adriatic Sea to an area called the Dalmatian Coast, named after one of the four historical regions of Croatia. Come and travel along with us!
